Terms of Service and Operational Practices

Lawn Care

INTRODUCTION – I am the owner/operator of Matt’s Lawn Care. I started this business in 2023 after working 4 years as an Assistant Golf Professional at Riverchase Country Club in Hoover, Alabama and Bent Brook Golf Course in McCalla, Alabama. I was enrolled in the Professional Golf Management program at Mississippi State before completing my undergraduate degree at the University of Alabama. During my time working in the golf industry, I gained valuable knowledge and experience in the treatment and maintenance of various turf types. This is the same knowledge and experience that I bring to caring for your lawn.

We are licensed and insured and provide lawn maintenance and weed control for both residential and commercial properties. I hold the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries license for Ornamental and Turf Pest Control which is required to provide weed/pest control for your lawn, shrubs and trees.

Our entire focus is on keeping your lawn luxurious, green and pest-free. We’re not a franchise or a high-volume lawn care company rushing through applications. If you are serious about having a weed-free lawn, then you need to know the right steps to take for weed control. Weeds can quickly turn your lawn into an eyesore, but we can help.

Primary Areas of Service

We mainly service Alabaster, Helena, Pelham, and neighborhoods in western Hoover (Blackridge, Bluff Park, Green Trails, Lake Cyrus, Lake Wilborn, Ross Bridge, Shades Crest, The Preserve, Trace Crossings, Tyler Road).

No-Contract Required

There is no contract or commitment with our service, but we are a continuing service.  This means that once you're on the schedule we will keep treating the lawn from one year into the next unless you tell us otherwise - which you can do any time you like.

What’s included in your mowing services?

We provide lawn maintenance on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Our lawn maintenance services include lawn mowing, edging the driveway and sidewalk, string trimming around all areas where the mower cannot reach (trees, light posts, shrubbery beds, etc.) and blowing all grass clippings off hard surfaces.

We use light-weight commercial mowers including 52-inch and 36-inch stand-on John Deere mowers and Honda push mowers. Typically, the mowing height will be set at 2-inches. If the client wants a different height, we will adjust the mower height per the homeowner’s request.

Mowing Schedule

We are a small business and must implement strategies to complete the daily work in the most efficient manner possible. That means we group homes by neighborhood and mow the lawns in each neighborhood on the same day every week. We will establish a day of service for your yard at the beginning of the mowing season and you can expect that your yard will be mowed on that day throughout the year. We do not take requests for yards to be serviced on a specific day.

Payment for services

We use a secure AutoPay system using the credit card on file payment system from Yardbook which allows for an efficient payment process. Payment for our lawn care program is due upon completion of each application. Credit card information is kept offsite through our third-party vendor. We do not keep your credit card information in-house, nor do we have access to your information at the time of payment setup or at anytime you are signed up for credit card on file payments.

We will continue to accept personal checks and cash. Our goal is to make your payments as easy and stress free as possible.

When Matt’s Lawn Care customers enroll in the AutoPay option, customer agrees to the following terms and provisions which are a binding part of Customer’s agreement to receive and pay for services provided by Matt’s Lawn Care. Please read these provisions carefully.

  • Customer agrees to pay for all services provided and authorizes Matt’s Lawn Care to initiate electronic payment transactions from the debit/credit card account or bank account that Customer has set up through Yardbook. Customer’s consent applies to all invoices issued by Matt’s Lawn Care for all services provided at any time, including invoices for services that automatically renew each year.  All payments will be automatically withdrawn from Customers specified credit card account on the date Matt’s Lawn Care performs the work and issues an invoice for services.

  • Customer agrees that Matt’s Lawn Care may contact Customer via telephone, text, or email in the event AutoPay debit/credit card or bank account transaction fails.

  • Customer agrees to notify Matt’s lawn Care in the event of any billing errors so that Matt’s Lawn Care can correct any such errors.

  • Customer shall be responsible for credit card fees associated with each payment.

Can I call and skip a service visit?

To skip a service, you MUST contact us by phone or text at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled mowing, if, you do not wish to be serviced on your scheduled service day.

Our crew works on a schedule in order to provide you reliability and to perform the work in the most efficient manner possible. In most cases, if you request to skip a service, your lawn will not be cut until your next regularly scheduled bi-weekly or weekly service date. If you request to skip more than one service, it may not be possible to fit you back into our regular schedule and we may place someone else in your slot.

How do I pay for work other than lawn care, such as pine straw/mulch installation, hedge trimming, or leaf cleanup?

Because our daily schedule is fully booked with mowing lawns (approximately 10 yards per day), all additional work such as pine straw/mulch installation, hedge trimming, and leaf cleanup must be scheduled for weekends. We request that when you require any of these additional services, please contact me so that I can put you on the schedule. This additional work will be performed on a first-come/first-serve basis.

Tall Grass

When you sign up for service it is assumed that your lawn is not overgrown; and prices are based as such. It takes substantially longer to mow an overgrown lawn and prices may vary based on condition of the lawn at time of first service or if service was skipped at the client’s request.

Objects in the yard that interfere with mowing

Prior to each scheduled mowing, we kindly ask that you remove items from the yard that may interfere with mowing such as hoses, toys, paper, dog bones, etc. If we are required to move objects to service your lawn and/or landscape, we cannot guarantee they will be put back in the correct place. We are not responsible for damage to items left on the lawn. Items in the yard are sometimes difficult to see, so please take a moment and collect all objects on the lawn before the service team arrives.

Pet Waste

Please remove pet waste from lawn prior to each scheduled mowing service.

If it’s raining on my schedule date, when should I expect service?

We monitor the extended weather daily. We will use our best professional judgement with regard to mowing on rain days. In most cases in our neighborhoods, light rain for short periods or afternoon thunderstorms do not significantly impact our ability to complete your lawn mowing. In the event of extended periods of heavy rain which may generate standing water, we may have to delay mowing your yard. In this case, we will service your property after the weather has cleared and the grass has dried enough to mow.

Services completed after a storm come with certain challenges, especially during extended periods of rain when grass is growing faster than we can cut it. Please understand that quality may be compromised after a rainstorm, however, we do the best we can, within reason, given the conditions.

Inaccessible Yards

Once the service team arrives we begin our systematic approach to servicing your lawn.  In order to provide timely, efficient, and dependable service WE DO NOT CALL OR KNOCK on the door if a yard is inaccessible.  We do not offer credits or makeup visits for missed areas due to inaccessible yards.  Inaccessible Yards include, but are not limited to: locked gates, broken gates, ongoing projects, moving vans, too many parked cars, pets outside, outdoor parties, irrigation running, construction material, or workmen in a yard.
